The Department of Athletics at Tuskegee University has announced time changed for each of the three Saturday doubleheaders that will take place in the month of February, beginning next Saturday. For the doubleheaders against LeMoyne-Owen College on Feb. 1, Stillman College on Feb. 8 and Lane College for Feb. 22, game times have been pushed up from their typical 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. start times to 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The changes were made to better accomodate families and the senior citizens in the area that would prefer to watch games played in the afternoon on the weekends. Additional benefits to the time changes are also better to staff and student-athletes in the department, which will allow them to spend their Saturday nights recuperating from the contests. This will also allow those who work in and represent the department to spend time with their friends and family, while visiting teams will be able to travel back to campus faster, and return home in a timely and orderly fashion.
Six of the ten remaining games on the 2014 regular season basketball schedule are at home, and the changes to the Saturday doubleheaders will affect half of the remaining home dates. The home doubleheaders that will not be affected include Thursday night's set of games against Miles College, along with upcoming contests against Kentucky State (Feb. 20) and Paine College (Feb. 25). All of these weeknight home doubleheaders will still be played at their regularly scheduled times of 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The four remaining road doubleheaders for Tuskegee include Monday night at Stillman in Tuscaloosa, Feb. 15 at Lane, Feb. 17 at LeMoyne-Owen and Feb. 27 at Albany State. Each of the basketball schedules for the
Tigerettes and the
Golden Tigers now reflect these changes.
